The Greenness of Christ's Pasture!
When our Saviour, Jesus Christ, laid His life down His perfect life for our sinful lives, He opened a gate to a spiritual and emotional pasture so green, so effervescent, it bewilders those who enter and partake. It's a pasture that quickens the spirit, brings joy to the soul, delivers love to the loveless heart, friends to the lonely, freedom to a troubled mind, and unparalleled wisdom and knowledge to all within.
Why would anybody seek anything else at all other than that? Entry is simple. Repent of your sins, give your heart to Jesus Christ and follow Him.
When Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6), He was explaining to those present, who believed in the Father God, that He, Jesus, was the only door or gate to enter the father's pasture. Nothing comes close to the inner improvements enjoyed when we lay down our lives to follow Jesus.
We can't deny that a life without Christ still offers many things. We can enjoy great families, extraordinary achievements, exciting travel, and lavish lifestyles— a normal life, you might say. These are all there for anyone who wants to make such a life for themselves. Yet regardless of those benefits, there remains a complete layer of life still dormant, of which those partakers are unaware.
We think we've found where we belong—reached a degree of success. Yet, we end up denying our spirit of its instinctive home. We withhold the understandable desire of our human spirit, given at birth, to find its way home to the Holy Spirit. We either suppress its desire or transfer it to some other source of enlightenment, expecting it to be satisfied. However, the required fulfilment never comes until it is home with the Holy Spirit, in the pasture designed from the beginning of time.
The tragedy? When a person dies, because the spirit lies dormant, there is no connection with Heaven at the time of death. We don't possess an identification pass. We're not part of the pasture, so God denies entry. The only other pasture is hell.
As you can see, it's important to select the right pasture.
Today's prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for reminding me of your Son's importance in my life and the deep connection. I thank you again this day for your love for us and the wonders of your pasture.
