RELEVANCE On Thursday night, my wife and I went to the local opening of Sound of Freedom, the new anti-child-trafficking movie about Tim Ballard. Read up on him.
Finally, some high-profile people are exposing this obscene, highly organised international crime.
Except for a handful of empty seats, the theatre was packed and silent.
Over the years, I've read several publications on this heinous, highly organised problem, such as the Franklin Cover-Up, Eyes Wide Open, and others. Some seem far-fetched, while some cannot be wrong.
I read them for ministry's sake. It's sobering, perhaps not for a quiet Sunday morning before Church. Yet, every Christian must face and acknowledge the immense and intricate trafficking webs and deceptions right under our noses and protected by many institutions and high-profile people. It's like a worldwide underground street network we're unaware of. We must get behind this movie, whether we see it, promote it or donate to the cause.
Jesus has a special place in his heart, and the Bible holds many special scriptures about children—their innocence and how they should grow into spiritual adults with clean hearts educated in the ways of the Lord, following a path of sanctification and communing daily with their precious Lord.
Only by God's grace do these damaged goods survive life, which is why the penalty for kidnappers in God's law was death. Exodus 21:16 And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
1 Corinthians 13 speaks of charity or Agape love—the love of the heart of God, and God call us to obtain that heart. It is a heart that extends far beyond our own patch of turf, families and welfare. This movie is about that type of love, putting it all on the line.
It's hard to know what to do in these situations, as our reality is so distant from these kids. But we can pray and increase awareness. That gets the fire of conversation going, which spreads understanding and wrenches the covers of this intercontinental secret.
And we can donate to keep the wheels underneath these freedom fighters rolling.
Again, apologies for today's confronting message. A cup of tea, toast and marmalade, and child sex trafficking don't seem to mix well on a peaceful Sunday morning, but thanks for reading through.
May your day be superbly enriching—with these poor kids in mind.
PRAYER Dear Lord, this topic is so confronting. It is the depth of wickedness of the Canaanites, yet it is here thriving greater than ever yet hardly mentioned in our media. Please help me understand more and do my bit. Teach me how to pray and commit to some action. Oh, and I'm sorry you have to see all this from your creation.
