Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

- Psalm 119:2

How difficult is it to seek God with our' whole heart'?

What does that mean? Have you sought anything in your life with your whole heart?

It's a challenging question.  Our own goals and desires factor into life more often than we care to admit. It is for this reason, the Lord said in the times of Moses and Joshua that these goals and desires would be overcome little by little. As much as we sometimes want to plunge into the Lord's will and be besotted by his passions, Jesus brings us back to reality when he instructs us to count the cost.

Often the price of diving in and giving all is that our aims don't last long and our building ceases. They are short-lived. Many followers have tried this and failed. That is why Jesus said to include everything when we count the cost. Every house is built the same way — a daily approach, getting sufficient done in each day to meet our end goal.

When we go for a loan to build or buy a house, we spend days and weeks making sure we have considered everything in our budget. Otherwise, a small increase in interest rates may be the difference between keeping or losing the house.

When it comes to our spiritual house, we put far less time into counting the cost, if any at all. The Lord wants our 'all' in the building of our spiritual house, and he prefers one plank at a time, one brick at a time, secured and ready for the next one — a planned approach, giving all to the building, daily. We go to sleep with it on our mind, and wake up with the same vision, until that glorious day when the Lord says, well done good and faithful servant!

Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the wisdom of building and how people build houses. We can see the infrastructure and detail needed for my spiritual house. Help me today to realign myself to your desires and rid myself of any selfish aims.
