Fasting: Which Scriptures are Missing? 519. March 7, 2024

Edition 519

KEY SCRIPTURES:

Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Mark 9:29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

RELEVANCE

While doing some studies on fasting recently, I came across a disturbing matter. Many Bible versions have accounts of fasting, as it is one of the standard practices of Christian life. However, the scriptures above, which directly descend from the power of the Cross, are missing in some of those versions.

Jesus clearly believed that fasting was one of two critical procedures for freeing people from demonic possession, so why haven't they been included? You may want to check the version you read to see whether it contains these verses.

There are other troubling scriptures worth mentioning. The underlined sections below are missing from various versions.

Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Mark 15:28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. The entire verse is missing. To my knowledge, this is the only place in the Bible showing how Jesus' crucifixion fulfils Isaiah 53:12.

Luke 8:43. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any

Luke 23:38  And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews.

Luke 11:54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

John 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

John 1:27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

Colossians 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

Acts 8:36-37 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

As you can see, people were taught some of these missing verses in Sunday School, so why are they now missing? I have found that thousands more keywords, part-verses, and verses are missing.

If you are concerned enough to check out a wide range of anomalies, I recommend David W. Daniels's book Look What's Missing. It will help navigate the inconsistencies.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, thank you for the truth of your Word. Help us find your truth as we navigate the inconsistencies.
