Bold and Unafraid. 437. March 2, 2023

KEY SCRIPTURE Philippians 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

RELEVANCE I recently watched a brilliant short video of the evangelistic American football quarterback Tim Tebow. After being told Tim would be stillborn and the Doctor recommending an abortion, Tim's Baptist missionary parents went through with the birth. Tim had no lasting defects, although he has dyslexia. Tim's parents homeschooled all five children. Tim's faith is strong and unafraid, and he is well-known for his Christianity in the football community and is a hero to many. Footballers paint eye black under their eyes to reduce glare from bright sunlight or night game floodlights. Before one particular game, the National Championships, Tim decided to go a step further. On top of the black, he painted John 3:16 in white and played the entire game with that inscription on his famous face. As Tim said in the video, John 3:16 is the very essence of Christianity, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. From that sole brave and bold move of adding the highlighted scripture, NINETY-FOUR MILLION people Googled John 3:16 during the game! NINETY-FOUR MILLION!!! I highly recommend you watch the engaging nine-minute clip HERE. Through that one act of faith, some of those ninety-four million watchers may have sought and received salvation, living eternally with their new Saviour. Small things can have significant impacts. We may not play in front of big crowds, but we all have a crowd. One small act of faith may change at least one life. PRAYER Dear Lord, thank you for Tim's faith and boldness. It inspires me, but I question myself, do I have the faith to be as bold? Lord, strengthen me in my courage to act like Tim.
