My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Too often we run out the door in the morning without prayer. Here we see David, not just whipping up a short prayer to feel good or tick off a process, but delivering a considered prayer unto God. There is something far more engaging about a thoughtful prayer. David meditated much on the Word, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he mused on it during the night in preparation of delivering a sound prayer the next morning.
How many times during the night has a thought come to mind, and you pray, then fall asleep before you finish? David shows us to direct our prayers to God seeking a result, e.g. “and will look up”. David cried many prayers unto the Lord for help in times of trouble, as you might, today, and had an express desire to treat God as the only true God and worship him as the creator.
Today’s Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for hearing my prayers. Please help me to understand the importance of praying to you in a considered way, and not just burbling out anything that comes to mind. Please show me how to pray prayers that get answered.
