Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

- James 3:13

How do we show our works by conversation?

It seems such an odd thing to say. That is until we understand the real interpretation of the word, 'conversation'.

Conversation, in Strong's Concordance, G391, is interpreted, "Manner of Life". Therefore, by our good manner of life, we show our good works with meekness and wisdom. Part of a godly life also encompasses the getting of wisdom. Wisdom grows in a good heart, but it first must be sought. Some wisdom comes with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, but we find further wisdom in the Bible. It is only wise when considered and implemented. Wisdom is also found at the foundation of a good manner of life, and, from the root of wisdom comes much fruit which adorns one's life. this also flows on to others.

God encourages us to 'walk the talk', as our conversation and manner of life are the same things. A genuine article looks and sounds the same.

Job 28:12 asks the question, "But where shall wisdom be found?

It is answered well in Proverbs 2:6-9, "For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path."

Along with wisdom comes these other adornments and benefits, and the rock-solid manner of life believers wish to follow.

Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the wisdom you have already given me. Please help me take on more of your wisdom and let it grow deep down, so its fruit will flourish within me and flow onto those around me.
