Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
- Romans 1:1
Have you separated yourself unto the Gospel?
I know God does the separating, but we choose how ardently we follow. There are many Christians who have only partly separated themselves and, because of that, they struggle in their spiritual lives. Following his dramatic conversion, the Apostle Paul challenged his previous teachings. He asked questions of people who knew. Then he went into a private place for a time to work out the truth, but this time with the Holy Spirit. That made all the difference to his understanding. Paul resurfaced from this spiritual closet with a greater understanding of the Christ whom he had persecuted.
The most significant change in Paul was his redirected zeal. Paul had a zeal for persecution because he thought he was right. He now knew he was right and pursued Christ completely separated to the Gospel.
Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the zeal within me. Please direct the zeal towards the works and spiritual offerings of you choice.
