Key Scripture: Galatians 6:9-10 & Matthew 5:41
Gal 6:9-10 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Matthew 5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him two (Instead of just walking a couple of hundred metres and leaving them.)
Relevance.
I came across an excellent set of principles that should give us all hope and confidence that our work will ultimately yield a profit for the Lord. Too often, our own thoughts defeat our ministry work. We give up trying when we think our work is going nowhere or nobody is listening, that our work and words are a waste of time. We retreat to our conquered heart—the place where we can feel sorry for ourselves.
Instead of overcoming life's challenges, we become overcome without even putting up a decent fight, and get infected with the disease of defeatism.
Have a read. They are quite thoughful.
“It is madness to hate all roses because you got scratched with one thorn.
To give up on your dreams because one didn’t come true.
To lose faith in prayers because one was not answered, to give up on our efforts because one of them failed.
To condemn all your friends because one betrayed you,
not to believe in love because someone was unfaithful or didn’t love you back.
To throw away all your chances to be happy because you didn’t succeed on the first attempt.
While we have breath, we have life. And while we have life, we have time to turn things around. All we need is the determination to challenge that one tiny weakness that, oddly, holds so much power over us.
When you learned to swim, did you give up the first time you started to sink?
Imagine if Billy Graham slunk into his chair after his first couple of preaching gigs. Nobody thought much of him. Crowds stayed away.
One small step, followed by another, turns into a way of life.
Prayer
Precious Lord, please help us acknowledge this weakness that causes us to give up long before you've finished with us. Strengthen us to not only go on, but to overcome all obstacles of weakness that Satan throws at us.
