KEY SCRIPTURE: Romans 12:18
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
RELEVANCE
Scottish poet and Author Charles McKay challenged all people when he penned this quotable quote:
"You have no enemies, you say? Alas, my friend, the boast is poor. He who has mingled in the fray of duty that the brave endure, must have made foes. If you have none, small is the work that you have done. You've hit no traitor on the hip. You've dashed no cup from perjured lip. You've never turned the wrong to right. You've been a coward in the fight."
In our key scripture, the Apostle Paul calls us to seek as much peace with all people as possible. We try to carry out that task through love—loving our neighbours, those who despise us and despitefully use us, and our enemies.
However, times and situations arise where peace becomes neglect of duty.
Now is one of those times.
When provocative Paris Olympic Games organisers mock the Lord's Supper, we must send them a strong message that their filth and depravity have crossed the line; it is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
While speaking to a non-Christian yesterday, he asked if I had seen the "demonic opening to the games?" When demonic behaviour is obvious even to those who aren’t interested in knowing God, then it must be very clear.
I'm talking about the Satanic opening to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where sexually depraved adults became the centre of attention. It is of no small coincidence that these games celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Eric Liddell's decision not to run on his Sabbath, raising Christ above all.
These Games honoured Satan and positioned debauchery as something to celebrate. Numerous elements of the opening were utterly depraved political nonsense—tricks to see if we would accept them. We won't!
The opening of these Games will go down in history for all the wrong reasons, which will be good. Much of it was bizarre enough, but to purposefully treat the Last Supper with contempt is an affront to Jesus Christ and an intentioned provocation to Christians because God's Word condemns those degenerate buffoons.
Artistic Director Thomas Jolly mischievously claimed that he based the scene on Bellini's Feast of the Gods. Yet, the arrangement the world saw looked nothing like Bellini's painting but much like Da Vinci's Last Supper.
J
olly said, "Above all, I want this ceremony to include everyone. We must all celebrate this diversity." What diversity is he referencing? We've had diversity for millennia. But this new diversity is nothing but cloaked depravity.
Anne Descamps' apology was also misleading. "There was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group."
Let me say this: Mr Jolly, Anne Descamps, or anyone on the committee who approved the Last Supper event would never have signed off if it even faintly resembled a depiction from a painting of Islam's Mohammed.
The designers and approval committee need repentance and possibly a psychiatrist, not applause.
Many Christians gathered in Paris and around the world in prayer to challenge the boldness. Praise God!
C-Spire, the largest privately owned mobile services firm and sixth largest in that U.S. industry, pulled its Olympics advertising in response to the blasphemy. Well done for their immediate decision to be on the Lord's side.
The sword of the Lord has two edges. Yes, we would love to see them saved, but that doesn't mean we don't caution people for their excesses. Christianity is not the world's doormat.
If Thomas Jolly and associates pushed a Christian agenda for the opening, what sized backlash would you think they'd get?

PRAYER
Dear Lord, Christians worldwide bravely stand every day in schools, workplaces, sports arenas and government departments to stem this tide of devilish iniquity. Please give us the courage to stand firm for what is right in this.
